Commercial Description:
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

Yum. A nice suprise gift from a friend. Deep, deep brown, tan head. Big roasty, meaty aroma. Smooth, satisfying malty brew, with a sweetness, mixed with a roasty, chocolaty malt flavor that is near perfect. Delicious.

Dark brown body with reddish glints and a thick brown frothy head. Complex malty aroma with hints of brown sugar, roasted barley, coffee and dark berries. Taste is simply amazing. Starts with somewhat of a bitter/hoppy attack. Following, we detect various flavors of fruits, brown sugar, barley and molasses. Hoppiness comes back again for a lovely lasting aftertaste that also leaves a kind of warming effect despite the small percentage of alcohol. The whole thing has a mild oily/silky texture. A real treat!!!

Pours black with a large gray/tan head. Aroma of deep roasted malt, butter, a little sour some nuts. The body is very drinkable for a stout, more like that of a porter. Really smooth flavor. some creamy milk chocolate, hints of licorice, lots of malt. None of the bitterness found in other stouts... very sweet finish. Latter in the beer I found some nice oatmeal and lots of vanilla.

550 ml BROWN bottle. Poured a little thin for a stout and developed a head that was a little to fizzy also. Aroma is a on the sweet side for a stout and a little one dimensional also. Flavor isslightly better with some roasted malt notes, slight hop bitterness, and a little erthy yeastiness too. This one is average and needs more of anything to set itself off from the rest.

Color of used motor oil and nearly pours as thick, finger high head of yellowish cream of spongyness, crumbles fast, spotty lace that sticks like glue. Aroma is strong of oats and molasses, some sweet bitter chocolate and lots of solid roasted malts with cherry and plum notes. Enjoyably wafting stout nose. Taste really smacks of nice sweet oat character the whole way through, almost too much, its sweetness is chewy and strong. Roasted malts play secondary on the palatte along with some darl fruityness of plum and very light bitter chocolate notes which alll mostly come through near the finish. Feell is super creamy smooth, medium body with the center being more full. Has a easy, relaxing calm smooth finish thats lightly dry. Lending this oatmeal stout to be smoothly drinkable, goes down easy; a sweet chewy treat.

Smooth, delicious, rich and creamy. What a great beer! The glass was empty before I wanted it to be. A nice combination of sweet malts and bitter is noticeable. A quality beer to be tasted!

Quice or green apple peel on top of cocoa and roasted oat aroma. Flavor is similar with a short acidic hazelnut finish. Nice.
