One of the best I have tried. kburns99 (7), California, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 15, 2002 I’m a big fan of stouts and this is a smooth and easy going one to enjoy. It isn’t as thick though as a Guinness or Murphy’s Irish Stout. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA

I have found the sweet nectar of life here. Aroma is of roastiness, dough, gingerbread, malt, chocolate and dark fruit. The pour is black as night...with a thinly creamy dark tannish head gracing its presence on my glass and coating it with a thin reminder of lacing to remember this glorious event. The taste is magnificent....a beautiful blend of roasts with a mild fruity and ever so slightly bitter finish. The carbonation is practically non-apparent here, and i dont feel as if im chewing my drink down..sometimes a definite plus. The aftertaste is definitely smokey with chocolate and plum residue apparent and a heavy helping of malty dryness. For a stout that is such a staple around the household, this sure took me a while to get my hands on it..but let me tell you i will never let go!!! slinkymello (137), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

I couldn’t put my finger on a few of the flavors, which was nice... it was just a good, smooth, malty stout bursting with flavor. I mean it too... velvet palate? you’re damn right. softale (188), Michigan, USA

Tan head was on the thin side but leaves a very nice lacing down the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel and much more that I can’t adequately describe. Silky smooth mouthfeel and finishes with just enough bitterness to make it enjoyable. This is THE oatmeal stout to which all others should be compared! Great beer. The aroma hinted at the complex stout to come. Malty, smokey, chocolatey, roasted all comes through without breaking too far away from a traditional stout flavor. Beautiful label and a wonderful taste. Smooth, dark and delicious with a little sweetness w/o being overly sweet. One of my favorites in my limited repertoire. Its GLORIOUS.
