This beer is a wonderfully dark mahogany, nearly black. The head is creamy tan with good lacing and retention. The aroma is sweet coffee, oats, and roasted malt. I wish it were stronger. The taste is something I didn’t think I liked at first. Sure, it is rich. Sure, it is creamy. But, there is an overwhelming burnt taste that quickly changes from what is that? to I need more! Low bitterness leaves just enough of the toasted malt on your tongue. A prime example of the style. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada

Warming aroma of wood smoke, chocolate, maple sugar, and earth. Huge creamy tan head, black body. Next to no carbonation. Very milky. Just the slightest taste of pink peppercorns, toffee and soil. This beer is ridiculously good. Great balance with milk chocolate, espresso, caramel, molasses; and some of the maple carries through. Very smooth malty soft bitter finish. Extremely smooth. God it was good.
Heaven has this beer on tap. Wow! And all this at 5%abv. IT'S STUPID GOOD! aweb (11), USA

I can sense a hint of skunk flavor in it because of that. Still uberyummy, though. darkstar (69), Eureka, Missouri, USA

A very pleasant nose, with a nice mix of flavors. Exceptionally smooth, sweet, with a hint of alcohol, finishing off a beer that has chocolate, lots of malt, and coffee. Fabulous. 9er (29), Delaware, USA

I was very pleased be able to drink this beer. It was very smooth and creamy and had a molassas flavor in the end... the oats were evident on the back of the palatte but nor overwhelming... A very drinkable beer and still maintained its robust chocolate flavor in the last gulp. Found myself wanting more... The initial taste was odd as the narrow neck prevented me from getting a good portion into my mouth. Great taste. lunchbox582 (22), St. Clair Shores, Michigan, USA

My friend said it best: he expected it to be really strong in the oatmeal taste, but it was very subtle and sat well on the palate. Definitely hints of caramel and coffee. Fluffy tan head. One of my favorites thus far. Glazed9884 (207), USA

Smells nicely of roasted malt, definitely smells like a stout. Very smooth mouthfeel, slightly bitter-sweet aftertaste. Light stout with respect to mouthfeel but maintains a full taste. Very very drinkable, excellent brew.
