Commercial Description:
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

A nice ’chewy’ stout. lots of chocolate and coffee overtones, only complaint is that the finish is a little oily but still a thoroughly enjoyable beverage

This is hands down my favorite beer. The taste can’t be matched, and the aroma is the most mouth-watering around. Well worth the price. Doesn’t get better than this.

Beer #2 of the night for brownaler's 21st birthday blowout. I don't believe that a beer can truly be a "5"; no beer is perfect - something can always be better. But, this is about as close as it gets. Poured pure black, with a tan head that retained throughout. Aroma of liqueur, oatmeal, and sweet candies and fruits. Flavor dominated by oatmeal, but balanced off with a slight tinge of hops in the finish. I'm definitely making the birthday boy go buy more of this tomorrow. Best beer I've ever tried, far and away.

Everything about this stout's appearance, from the gold-foiled bottle to the opaque midnight body to the thick brown head, was perfect. A wonderfully strong aroma carried scents of chocolate, malt, and perhaps wine. The flavor was a complex blend of dark bittersweet chocolate, wood smoke, strong malts, and a hint of coffee, all wrapped up in a thick, luscious, creamy palate. I found myself letting this beer sit in my mouth for a time, just enjoying the developing flavors and the sublime mouthfeel. Absolutely delicious. As of now, the best beer I've tasted.

This is the best. Great in every respect, and brings memories of shakedown street.

one of the top 5 non-US brewed stouts. My wife and I compared it in a year long double blind taste test against a number of other imported stouts available in AZ and it was the clear winner... it also beat the best of the US stouts in the ’how many can we drink before it loses its charm’ test... THE BEST STOUT ON THE PLANET... so far

This is my favourite stout bar none, silky smooth texture. Chocolate and nutty full flavour but not overpowering. The only thing I don’t like is the cost but hey you have to pay a little for perfection.

G-DAMN I love this beer!!! Oily and sweet. Filling and warming. My wife swears that she tastes Gouda and Worschestire.
