Commercial Description:
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

This is great! Smooth and malty with a satisfying bitter edge. Looks fab! VERY dark, head is tight and lasts well. A crackin’ stout.

[bottle from brewery] Pours pitch black with a moderate tan head. Nose is roasted coffee, dark chocolate, with some nutty notes against a backdrop of sweet fruits, orange, plum with a faint vinous note floating around somewhere. body is silky and excellent, espescially for the abv. finish is sweet. The only bad thing about this beer is that my glass is almost empty.

Very dark frothy beer, amazingly smooth taste that finishes and taste similar to guinnes draught out of the pint cans. This beer is good but overtly expensive for the overall value, i’d just recommend buying the guiness.

This beer is simply amazing. Pours a black body with a frothy khaki coloured head that never quite disappears. Slightly sweet aroma with hints of chocolate and caramel. The palate is perfect, full without being overbearing and a bittersweet finish. Incredibly enjoyable all around, I can’t wait to have another.

Very dark color with a long lasting heavy head. Great flavor. A sweet almost oatmeal cookie flavor.

Great beer, very creamy tasting, very smooth. Minor hints of the roasted barley. Be careful when you pour as you could get mega-head syndrome. We put this in our personal and mythical Top 15.
