Aroma of roasted malt. The flavour is rather sweet with a taste of dark malt, notes of black coffee and chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Smooth and light bitter finish. A top beer in this style and very enjoyable too. droomyster (14), USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 6, 2005 Pours a dark brown, deep red edges, with a tan foamy head lasting a few minutes; little lacing to space of. Delicious smells of milk chocolate and walnuts, cookies, cereal, interlaced with traces of vanilla. Taste of nutty molasses, toastiness, butterscotch and grassy hops, overall lightly sweet. Ends with bitter roasted coffee and a long dry finish. Softly carbonated and full bodied but wonderfully drinkable. I will definitely buy this again and would love to actually try it with ham and eggs. Maria (6312), Thisted, Denmark

It’s Black with a brown hue and the head is huge, nougat colored and creamy. the flavour is like velvet and it’s very well-balanced. it has notes of chocolate, oats and coffee. It’s gentle and smooth, and if you aren’t fond of the stouts with more bite, this might be just rígth for you! Even if I today like the more powerful stouts - I drink this frequently, it’s a beer, I would not like to be without! That said, it has quickly become one of my favorite, and has given me the kick in the butt to start reviewing!
Upon first pouring, this beer did not have any particularly strong smell. Dark character and a light head. If you really want to stick your nose in it, the smell is almost creamy.
As others have mentioned, this stout has a smooth, milky flavor to it. An almost (but not overpoweringly) sweet taste increased drinkability and evened the drink out nicely. The mouthfeel was not incredibly noteworthy, though I would categorize it as thicker than average if necessary.
I’m still working on the identification of tastes and smells, but when it gets down to it, the bottom line is a great drink. It is going to the top among my favorites. I would buy it again if I had the chance; in fact, though I typically try something new each visit, I am making an exception for this drink, and am planning on picking up an extra one for the reserve. Almost entirely opaque with a pleasant creamy head. Flavor is wonderfully balanced and not offensive in the least, and while it is not terribly thick, just one bottle was enough to satisfy. Outstanding! AR (437), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 22, 2007 Slightly translucent in a generally opaque appearance. A plethora of flavors that is very smooth and satisfying. A slight hint of plum and the oatmeal makes this beer very palatable for a stout. A very nice beverage. mrdeath5493 (108), Arkansas, USA
