Bottled: Light roasty malt aroma. Notes of coffee, cacao and chocolate. Black color with a foamy, brown head. Flavor is sweet malty, fruity, intensive notes of cacao, hints of plums and cherries. Roasted malt and a nice hop bitterness in the end.

Dec 20, 2009 A terrific beer and a particularly interesting stout. I enjoyed the texture and flavours better when it was colder - as when it’s warming down the toasted notes and the coffee become a tad overwhelming.

Dec 18, 2009 A smooth, sweet stout and one of the better beers from Sam Smiths. Too sweet to be sessionable, IMO, but a bottle makes a nice dessert. A good-looking beer: coal-black with a lavish cappuccino head showing lace and length. Restrained aroma of cocoa powder, quince paste, raisins and tokay, spoiled in part by that a pasteurised boiled-lolly taint. Medium-bodied and creamy. Minimal bitterness and "roastiness". Chocolate pudding, blackcurrant jam and oodles of sugars. Nice balance for a sweet stout. Dry finish. (500ml bottle from Leura Cellars)

Dec 17, 2009 550 ml bottle from Keller’s IGA. Pours an opaque near-black with a half-inch tan head and some nice visible carbonation right after the pour. Aroma of roasted barley malts, chocolate, yeast, and hops- light aroma overall. Flavor of sweet roasted malts, chocolate, oats, yeast, molasses, and dust. Medium bodied, with carbonation that provides a bite. Not as smooth or creamy as advertised. Very dry. Not a bad beer, but overrated.

Dec 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a huge brown head that slowly diminished. A richly intense aroma of chocolate, oats, coffee, tar and smoke. Creamy mouthfeel with a smooth bitterness that lingers well past the finish. A delightful stout if all aspects.

Dec 1, 2009 Szinte teljesen átláthatatlanul fekete sör,vékony de határozott világos bézs színű krémes habbal a tetején.Illata édeskés,csokoládés zabkorpa kekszhez hasonló.Íze édeskés,csokis amibe frissen pörkölt kávéaroma is lopakodik egy kis égetett cukorral és vaníliával.Tetszik hogy nem túl élénk,teste nem túl sűrű de mégis érezni hogy igen tápláló ital.Utóíze engem arra emlékeztet,amikor régen otthon a főzött kakaóba barna kenyeret dobáltam és amikor teleszívta magát kikanalaztam. Aztán kiszárad a száj tőle és hosszan így is marad,hacsak nem iszunk rá még egy kortyot.Remek ital,nekem nagyon bejött!
