Captures the soul of beer. It has a maltiness that reminds you that beer is a product of the soil. Balance of malt and hops.

Perhaps an older bottle? Not sure, but it had the clear glass which is always a disappointment and the beer suffers for it. The strength of the beer is clearly the appearance, which is a beautiful dark amber/rootbeer brown in color with a thick and creamy tan head. The bready aroma didn’t let much else out of my glass, except for a few random notes of sweet malts. The flavor had a rather muted taste with some light malts, some bread, a bit of caramel but mostly just a vague drinking experience. Is clear glass the culprit? Dunno. The palate seemed very thin too by the way. Kinda like an extract homebrew.

This beer pours a deep amber with a medium white head that dissipates quickly. The aromas are bread and slightly earthy. The flavors are dough, leather and dry. This is a reasonable beer but not one of their better ones. Cheers!

Good sweet malt flavors, lightly hopped for a pale ale. A coppery color. The beer was smooth. Not bad overall.

Pours copper with a tall beige head. Aroma of molasses and hops. A hint of banana as well. Metallic taste, creamy mouthfeel. Good beer.

Clear copper colour with beige head. Aroma has molasses, hops and maybe a hint of leather. Medium body and carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is dominated by dark roast malt, almost porterish, with black treacle and hints of fruit and maybe tea with a longish bitter finish that is a little metallic. It’s good, but not excellent.

Pours a slightly hazy copper from the 12oz. bottle: Ripened banana-esce nose. Lightly bitter and earthy, with some slight citrus and fruits. Drinkability: Light, light bodied. Rebuy: Will rerate in the future. #198 on 14112009. DG.

Deep amber with a cream colored head. Bitter malts and light hops for the aroma. Good on the palate with a definite bitter malt flavor and a light fruit finish.

aroma is strong malt with typical nearly acrid samuel smith character. appearance is a score past pale into darker territory. flavor is chewy caramel, good general bitterness with subtle pine.

Poured from a brown 55cl bottle: Sweet biscuit maltiness and a ripe apple fruitiness pairing with light notes of alcohol and oceanic salinity in the aroma - pretty light though, unfortunately. A ruby red pour with a frothy white head. Nice toasty to slightly roasty malt flavours with subtle leathery/spicy hops, caramel and again a light alcohol presence. Mouthfeel is light to lighter medium, the carbonation is quite lively for a british Bitter. This was somewhat disappointing, need to try it fresh(er) perhaps.
