Brass-amber pour with a classy crown. Rich aroma - hops, malt, some cheese too. Tastes interesting - fairly light and moderately hopped, but still full of flavor. The taste is not sharp and attention-grabbing - it is more like a friendly, tingly bitterness that is subtle, but not weak. This is another unique Samuel Smith product that has me fumbling for the correct words of praise. Stew41 (1054), Caulfield, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Ultra traditional to my tastes. Funky nose of old malts, very barnyard and lots of grain smells coming through. Dry palate with a light layer of bitterness that looks well for the style. The malt character evident does come through in the flavours albeit at a much lower level. A reasonable lick of fizz relative to the style. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 29, 2008 Bottle poured a light orange into a pint glass. Had a very small head and little lacing. Aroma is very grainy and slightly sweet almost citrus like. The taste was smooth but under carbonated and nothing that really stood out. It was OK is the best I can say. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle: A good beer that is a little too light in flavor for me. I’d recommend it my to macro friends as an intro to premium craft beer. Aroma is light yeast, hops and dried citrus. Color is nice clear amber and a 2 finger head that disapates somewhat slowly. Flavor is mild yeast, hops with a slight bittering on the finish, palate is pretty good and lasting. ericandersnavy (1133), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2008 Pours a nice, clear orangey-amber with an off-white head that begins fluffy but disappears soon. Has an aroma of caramel and a bit of orange. A bit of orange in the taste and almost a nut-brown ale type flavour. Easy drinking...not heavy but not watery. Quickly ends with a hint of bitterness. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with a quickly disappearing off-white head. Aroma is malt, bready with a bit of ripe berries. Flavor is slightly roasted, somewhat sweet, bready malt, with some light fruits, and a bit of grassy hops. Fairly light body; interesting overall.
