soapbox (14), Alabama, USA Sep 23, 2009 Attention fellow beer snobs: yes you can have light beer. It is Samuel Smith’s Pure Brewed Lager! This beer pours a beautiful golden yellow with a creamy white head. Has a refreshing clean flavor with little aftertaste. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Sep 21, 2009 Yellow colored with lively carbonation, little white head. Hopped and buttery aroma with thin grass in it. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is lemony with nice biting German hops in it. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 21, 2009 Draft @ Ye Olde Chesire Cheese, London. Pale yellow pour. Sweet malt presence. Clean crisp flavorful lager. Send kegs to USA stephenj007 (25), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 10, 2009 This was a nice lager, pretty much what I expected, based on other reviews. Aroma was slightly doughy, with floral accents. A very nice, clear, straw yellow look to it, low on carbonation, with lots of flavor. Head disappeared quickly. Palate was clean and crisp, with a nice, flavorful finish. A very pleasing brew, with many positive attributes. njmoons (52), New Jersey, USA Sep 4, 2009 Pours a clear pale blonde with a substaintial sticky head.
Aroma of malt and slightly fruity.
Lightly malty taste with a hint of apple flavor. Well balanced with a light hop taste and bitterness. Crisp clean finish.
Normally I am not looking for any fruity aroma or taste in a lager, but it is very subtle and enhances the overall taste.
A very nice pale lager that I will drink again. Stefano (1321), Esbjerg, Denmark Sep 3, 2009 Golden yellow colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. Malt and hop aroma. Flavor is straw and malty with some hops in the finish. Ok beer for the style. PartyBear (29), Lincolnshire, England Aug 31, 2009 Poured from a chilled 500ml bottle into a chilled half pint Samuel Smith lager glass.
Appearance: Golden body with a massive fluffy head. Heavily carbonated.
Aroma: Clear grassy hops on the nose. Slightly floral, with a lemony kick.
Taste: Clean and refreshing hops. Bitter graininess on the palete, with a heavier maltiness in the middle.
Mouthfeel: Light, and crisp. Very lively. Smoother than most
lagers.
Drinkability: Superb! Proof that lager doesn’t have to taste like abrasive fizzy water. There is no hint of the horrendous metallic taste that affects the vast majority "Euro lagers". This is a lager that should be on tap at all pubs instead of the generic macro crap that seem to dominate. Ober (1158), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Aug 8, 2009 Cask @ The Wenlock Arms London. A clear golden colored beer, with a small white head. The aroma is malty sweet, some citrus. The taste is some bitter with fruity sweets, like citrus. The aftertaste is bittersweet.
