Made a good appearance, poured a clear orange hued lager golden with a foamy white head that reduced to a sticky thin bubbly lacing. Had a nice clean lager aroma, a lemony grassiness and a biscuity maltiness. Good carbonation and a dry textured medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. At first had a lemony, grassy hop taste, a mellow bitterness, followed by a semi-sweet grainy maltiness and a soft grassy and grainy finish with a lingering hop bite in the aftertaste.

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Jan 31, 2006 Poured from the bottle courtesy of Tom for Xmas, a carbonated light golden colour with a fluffy head that quickly disappeared. Strong grassy notes initially in the aroma followed with hints of sweetness and malt. Very crisp in the mouth - a little overpowering for me, though that is lager I guess. Surprised how mellow the hops are in the flavour, the grassiness is quickly dominated by a creaminess. For a lager - not bad - though I will always struggle to rate anything of this type too highly. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2006 Bottle. Clear golden color with a medium sized white head. I was hesitant to try this as I haven’t had great luck with Sam Smith beers, but I was pleasantly surprised. Biscuity, floral aroma with a hint of hops. Grassy, somewhat sweet biscuit malt flavor. Little to no hops detected. Clean finish. willblake (2186), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2006 01.09.06 550ml bottle. Medium golden color with a solid white head that lasts throughout, drifting like froth up the sides of the glass. Certainly an attractive beer. Aroma is a lightly toasty cracker, early morning bagel shop, and mildly herbal. Sweet honey touches carry into flavor atop even notes of buttery saltine and french bread. Very low bitterness, and what there is seems to be softly herbal and pleasant. Finish brings a grassy and crisp tang and a lasting breadiness. As bottled premium lagers go, I’ve got to say that this is one of the tastier ones I’ve stumbled across; I’m surprised. trafford (171), Germantown, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2006 I loved the mown-grass aroma and it is refreshing compared to most of the lagers I’ve had of late; very fresh, not too "heavy" but definitely present. It’s a very likable, full-flavored lager that puts 90% of American versions to shame. bigrond (1054), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2005 this beer is light. light in color, flavor, palate, and most of all taste. Not what I was expecting, yet another boring beer from Samuel Smith’s. Only two in the fridge - thankfully. Birdiebeagle (807), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA

Slight medicine odors also. Very middle of the road flavor. Sort of watery and weak. No bitterness at all.Reminds me of an american pale lager, but it is much better than them.
