500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a small short lived white head and nice carbonation. Aroma of apple, honey, yeast. Not much hops in the nose for the style. Light body with herbal hops dominating the flavor with some citrus and sweet malt in the background. Finish is short and dry. Brits should stay with ales.

Although somewhat subdued, the aroma of this beer is quite pleasing, and a bit sweet for a lager. For its category, the color is directly on target-a light but thoroughly rich golden with an ample white head. This beer is quite refreshing, with detectable floral notes and an occasional citrus insinuation in addition to a more refined "grainy" quality than what is typically found in most lagers. The consistency is pretty standard, not too heavy, really more on the light side, but not at all watery. For what it is, Samuel Smith Pure Brewed Lager handily hits all of its marks and is profoundly underrated and unrecognized.

Pours a golden yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is apples, grass, and floral hops. Taste is a little sweet, some corn, bready, fruit and grain. Just OK. Very mild, and drinkable but also very boring.

Reviewed 5/13/2009 (Bottle): Pours an extremely clear, extremely pale yellow colored body, with a huge frothy white head, lasting. Vegetably aroma, corn, straw. Malty. Some sweetness too, like something I can’t place. Maybe sweet corn. Corny, vegetably taste, especially in the aftertaste. Sweet taste. Clean. Refreshing, but still a lager. Carbonated body.

Golden yellow pour with a thinning head, mild hops combines well with mild malt, easy to drink later, not too watery, finishes crisp, great for a summer afternoon.
