| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 4, 2005 Light straw color with a big white head. Light moutfh feel. Some malt but not much, some bitterness but not much, and enough floral hoppy taste to destroy the balance. Some slight metalic taste that I tend to associate with too much floral hops and a slight skunkiness as well. I’m a big fan of Smith’s but this one just does not work for me. That said, my friend from Frankfurt thought that it was perfect after a round of golf, and was nicer because it lacked the full bitterness of a German lager. Go figure. 3daddict (139), Portland, Maine, USA

Destinctive lager yeast creates a heavy mouthfeel and simple malt flavor. Interesting low-key bitter hop finish. mymrbig (9), USA does not count | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Gold color with greenish hue. Clear with very little head. I am not generally a lager fan but this is one of the better lagers. Bockyhorsey (2541), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Bright yellow body with big foamy white head. Bitter flavor at first. But in the middle the bitterness was gone. Kind of a hefe finish with a vanilla pesent in the flavor. Decent refreshing beer with dinner. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA

Not a lot of taste outside of malt in the finish. Not a great lager by any means. jeffc666 (1892), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

The first think I note is that this is a brown bottle not a clear bottle like other Sam Smith beers I have had. Maybe this one will not be horribly light-struck. Also now that I think of it why I am drinking a lager from England? Clear golden body topped by a lasting foamy whote head. Lace is nice. The aroma is grassy, lightly metallic, and a touch skunky. Flavor-wise it is ok, but I pick up what tastes an awful lot like adjuncts. Maybe it is just the light skunk but seems like it to me. Fairly refreshing though.
