| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2004 Deep golden with full frothy head. Aroma is dominated with a malt grainy aspect. Body is well balanced with hops taking a back seat to the full malt flavor. Sligth tartness recedes to a tangy aftertaste. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2004 Deeper colour than expected but the head dissipates. Strong malty aroma. Initial malty taste as well. Just enough hoppiness for balance. Much more bitterness in the finish. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2004 This brew has a floral, moderatly malty nose with sort of a butter like aroma; I think the pilsner malt really shows with this brew: it has a well balanced, lightly hopped, smooth and slightly citrusy flavor that's a little nutty; certainly a beer I could drink alot of, but nothing *great*. Getting out at the Embankment Tube, I walked for a bit, bought some books and stopped at a pub. Enjoyed this Samuel Smiths at the Cheshire Cheese, with a delicious order of fish and chips. Give or take 15 packages of catsup I used on the chips. The Cheshire Cheese is a pub that has been standing for almost 500 years, give or take the great fire of London in 1666. Awesome, I was reading Dickens as I waited for my food. Not quite 2 pounds for the pint, the fish and chips on the other hand where about 7 pounds. Cheers! screigh (262), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 13, 2004 I think I always expect too much from Samual Smith considering how expensive it is. Not much flavor, not much head, not much of anything to talk about.
