| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 28, 2008 I have been looking forward to this one, hopefully to again express my appreciation for Samuel Smith products. The label is not my favorite from them. This pours dark with a big, foamy roof. Aroma is malty, fruity, and piercing with noticable yeast. The taste is superb: a complex, smoky flavor that puts it in the highest rank of porters. Coffee, esters, tobacco, and malt flavors are all present. Despite the full-on, but still well-controlled flavor, the body is pretty light and the finish is pleasant and subtle, with a lingering malty aftertaste. Not too sweet, too heavy, or too harsh, Taddy Porter is another exemplary brew from Samuel Smith. Angeloregon (2036), Portland, Oregon, USA

Brown-black with a round, fluffy tan head. Nutty, creamy, chocolate nose. Easy drinking, not thick on the tongue, but rich in complexities. Great beer from a great brewery. hoppopotamus (187), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2008 A very dark brown (but not jet-black) beer with a small off-white head that leaves no lace and dissipates quickly. The aroma is burnt toast, a bit of chocolate and espresso, but not overwhelming. The flavor is a roasted, bitter barley flavor with a rather thin mouthfeel. basewars (145), Albany, New York, USA
