Pours very dark brown with a large sudsy brown head. The aroma has roasted dark caramel and chocolate malt with hints of vanilla. Medium / thin body with minimal sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with watery toasted malt, some dark fruits and some astringency. The finish is lightly metallic and spicy. This may be a bad bottle, if so I will rerate later.

This is a deep, almost black, red brown with very big, creamy tan head that lasts a long time and leaves pretty nice even lace. The aroma is chocolate, toast, hints of nut and spices, a a little musty. The taste and body are lighter than expected. The taste is predominantly prunes, black pepper, red wine and a hint of dark toast at first. As it warms, more chocolate comes in as well as a more roasty quality. The body is rather light but lively and tingly. This is a good, solid, classic porter with lasting, fairly complex flavour.

Pours a deep brown with faint ruby highlights and a thin, creamy, tan head that laces very nicely. The nose is of nutty coffee and cream with a bit of chocolate and roast. Medium-bodied, yet thin, the palate is very slick with a dry and slightly astringent sourness at the finish. Bitter chocolate, coffee and cream with a light nutty undertone and a lactose-like sourness at the finish. This is a fairly tasty porter.

Dark, chocolatey, malty, coffee. Basically a textbook example of what a good porter should be.

Very dark, little head that dissipates quickly. Malty, heavy and smoky aroma. Flavor of malts, coffee, and a subtle finish. Well-balanced beer.

550 ml bottle. Almost black color with large creamy head. Chocolate and nut aroma. Malt taste again with coffee and nut flavor. A bit sweet. Overall, a good porter, especially as a session beer.
