Beautiful strong aroma. Pours heavy and dark with a large head that dissipates somewhat, but remains. Lots and lots of strongly roasted malt. Quite full and complex in the mouth. Quite a dense porter, not at all watery. Pleasant dry aftertaste without being over-hopped. Tasty and powerful with superb balance.

Pours quite dark with a thick head. A lttle too roasted for me when I think of porter but not too bad.

Pours black with large frothy tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, and smoked malt. Very pronounced- could smell it from 3 feet away as soon as I opened the bottle. Flavours of dark chocolate, smokey mat, and plum with smooth filling mouthfeel. A little sweet for my taste- not too much hop definition.

Zurich, 07. Pours dark brown with light beige head. Has some lightly roasted favours with full body. Not my favourite Samuel Smith’s product, but a great beer.

Pours a very dark color with a thick tan head. Went down smooth, with just a little bitter taste for the finish.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown. Roasted aroma with a light caramelly backbone. Undertones of banana, dark chocolate and coffee. Also some vinous tones of dark berries. Dark berries, coffee and dark chocolate in the flavour along with some some milky hints. Finish of with roasted malt dryness and some notes of cocoa. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Must have been an old one. Poured dark with a medium head but had a stenchiness more than an aroma, and a taste that just wasn’t right.

Bottled 355ml. It pours a nice black beer with a big creamy tanned head. The aroma is of smoked malt, apples, seaweed, coffee and plums. Some woody and salty elements in the taste. Plums, milky notes, dark chocolate and some medicinal herbs make this porter quite interesting. Some figs? Vinous with a very enjoyable mouthfeel. Floral, herbal and fruity. Full bodied. The finish is rather bitter, powerful with reminiscent notes of licorice.
