| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Bottle, pours almost impenetrable black, with a very thick head that dissipates to about a half inch after a minute or so. Ruby highlights when illuminated. Nose is heavy with roasted barley, chocolate, slight burnt coffee grounds. Taste is very smooth, almost lactose-like, with notes of chocolate and bitter, tangy sugar coming in. My favorite porter not predeced by the word "baltic." mcox90 (637), Wilton, USA

Can see ruby highlights held up to the light. Small tan head. Very dry mouthfeel. Flavors are just the right balance of coffee, malts, toffee and some hops for balance. If the mouthfeel had been a little heavier I would rated it higher. Ever so slight bitter aftertaste. douglas88 (1601), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours a jet black with a nice beige head. The taste is mostly a burnt malt and hops. Smooth and easygoing. Good, not comparable to the Oatmeal Stout. DuffLover (48), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

I’d had my eye on this one for some time but it’s not generally available around here - thank God for LCBO gift packs. It’s extra-awesome when you look forward to something this much and you aren’t let down. Pours jet black, reasonably dark brown head; believe it or not this comes in a clear bottle! Could have fooled me. The aroma is wonderfully complex, with everything you’d hope for - chocolate, espresso, smoky malts.. wow! The flavour is terrific with all the above alongside some fruity, caramel-ish sweet notes and great hopping that surprises you with a dry finish. Wow! Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Black, thick creamy cappucino head. Creamy coffee and malt on the nose. Wonderfully rich malty taste, with more coffee.
