I’d had my eye on this one for some time but it’s not generally available around here - thank God for LCBO gift packs. It’s extra-awesome when you look forward to something this much and you aren’t let down. Pours jet black, reasonably dark brown head; believe it or not this comes in a clear bottle! Could have fooled me. The aroma is wonderfully complex, with everything you’d hope for - chocolate, espresso, smoky malts.. wow! The flavour is terrific with all the above alongside some fruity, caramel-ish sweet notes and great hopping that surprises you with a dry finish. Wow! Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Near black colored, slight red hints. Medium sized beige head. Strong aroma, very close to Samuel’s oatmeal stout: roastiness, sweet licorice, chocolate, berries, good porter touch. Medium bodied. Flavor is milder with still roastiness and coffee dominating, somehow thin watery palate. Aftertaste dries with caramelly berries and hops.
