| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich black with a moderate amount of tan head. Nice lacing and durability on the foam. Aroma is richly of cocoa, cherries, and anise. First taste is solid porter. Very dry and crisp mouthfeel, with sweet molasses, chocolate, and bitterness. Also, a roasted quality is consistently present. There is a detectable note of coffee, tilting toward espresso. Very nice example of the style. TheGent (160), , Massachusetts, USA

This beer had all the deep dark color and roasted barley goodness accompanied with the full but not overwhelming palate that makes porter simply my favorite. plovmand (1725), Helsinge, Denmark
