Near black colored, slight red hints. Medium sized beige head. Strong aroma, very close to Samuel’s oatmeal stout: roastiness, sweet licorice, chocolate, berries, good porter touch. Medium bodied. Flavor is milder with still roastiness and coffee dominating, somehow thin watery palate. Aftertaste dries with caramelly berries and hops.

From bottle : Pours a very dark brown...almost black, with a small beige head. A good roasted malt aroma. Flavor is much the same, a roasty taste, smooth with no real bitterness. A bit full bodied, nice going down, with a somewhat alcohaly aftertaste, but not to bad.

Pours out big and black with a small off white head. Sweet oily thick aroma with a hint of red wine (merlot?). Taste is very smooth with roasted chocolate malt in the flavor. The roasted malt is also on the palate afterwards, giving it a nice dry finish. All nicely balanced, a real classic of the style and one of my faves.

Pours black into the the english pint with a small tan head and nice thick lacing. A very thick chocolately scent with notes of coffee and roastiness. There was a hint of vanilla with coffee beans, malt and roasted barley to taste. A very coating, creamy mouthfeel.

Overall very solid beer. Bottle- 12 oz. Pours a coffee color with little head and a semi-sweet aroma. Flavor has hints of coffee and chocolate and sits well on the palate. I had this one outside on a 100 degree day and it was really refreshing, despite being a more typical cold weather brew.

great looking beer, although was disappointed at the lack of an original bottle, it’s petty, i know. great, long lasting head, to compliment the looks of the beer. detected a bit of coffee, chocolate, peanut butter, and maybe on a whim, some soy sauce. it’s a pretty filling brew, and i don’t know how many i would be able to stomach in one sitting, but would be perfect for coming home from work and enjoying a great tasting beer, or substituting a desert for this fine beverage. had to deduct a few points off the over all because i am a cheap bastard, as this beer is a tad pricey, and not readily available within my area.

Bottle: Pours very dark with a decent head/ Good aroma of chocolate and malt. Pretty good, but a little bland compared to the top porters. Very easy to drink.
