Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 20, 2003 A black beer with a beutiful brown head. The aroma is smoked and of roasted malt. The flavor is very smokey though mild and sweet - ending in a good bitterness. And with a great palate. All in all a great porter. omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 9, 2008 Bottled. Almost black, rich, firm head. Licorice aroma. Sweet and fruity, medium bodied. Some chocolate, tobacco and blood. Low bitterness. A bit lifeless. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 15, 2005 (Bottle 55 cl) Very dark brown with a handsome, creamy head. Full-bodied and rather dry with some almost smoked notes from the roasted malt. But quite pleasant drinking and not heavy in any way. 050303 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 27, 2001 Updated: Mar 11, 2005Very dark brown colour. Aroma is chocolatey, slightly vinous with vague hints of coffee and apple juice. Fairly robust flavour profile - not in terms of bitterness, just palate impact - features plums, vinous notes, hints of roast and chocolate. Tangy and malty with a chewy, fruitcakey finish. No one element dominates, and the vinous notes not only hint at traditional porter but also add an element that most porters lack. I also appreciate that this is a proper porter, not a stout in masquerade. A total package porter, one of maybe the top dozen or so in the world. yespr (6361), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 4, 2008 35.5 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with deep redish glare and a dense and tan head. Dry roasted malt and ligh liqourice aroma. Flavour is light roasted with a mild earthy note and followed by a light acidic touch. Dry, acidic and light earthy finish.
