beerbill (1243), Laurel, New York, USA Jul 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown, not quite black, with a moderate linen white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and some light smoke. The flavor is a bit stronger than the aroma with plenty of roast along with some light smoke. Somewhat dry with moderate bitterness at the finish, which lingers for about ten seconds or so beyond the swallow. A very solid porter.
drjay44 (104), USA Aug 19, 2008 550 ml. bottle, pours a mocha colored head, no lacing, nice blackish brown color, nose with bits of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, similar flavors, not much hop, well balanced. A slab of beef would go nicely. flatmatt (69), Northville, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a medium fizzy head that quickly dissipates to a ring. Aromas of sweet dark fruits, roasted coffee, a little chocolate, and some definite alcohol. Flavors of roasty coffee and chocolate, with just a touch of brown sugar and dark fruits. Fairly nice porter, maybe just a touch weak as far as palate goes. Blom (605), Odense, Denmark Aug 18, 2008 Black with a good brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, liqueur. Restrained flavour of roasted malts, chocolate and liquorice.
BeerEssential (90), Massachusetts, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours an almost opaque black with a tan head. Mouthfeel is light, with a very roasted flavour, but no bitter aftertaste, which makes it easygoing with many meals. Very nice. The Etruscan (260), Tuscany, Italy Aug 17, 2008 Weak foamy light brown colour. Black colour. Aroma is malty with licorice and a hint of raisins notes. Flavor is malty too with coffee tones, ending in a moderately roasty finish. Light bodied.
