This is a really nice porter. Dark brown, tan head. Clear. Roasty chocolate carmel aroma. Flavor is mellow, with lots of carmel and chocolate and fruitiness. Body is nice and full. Tasty and satisfying session porter.

aroma some hops, and soy like nose, hints of grassy hops and toffee.
flavor, caramel malts, chocolate, light toffee palate, light bitter hops with a finish that has some faint fruity; raisin notes.Could not help but notice a light soy like flavor.

Nov 23, 2009 really nice porter. Pours a deep brown color with a tin off white head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is similar with a touch of sweetness and a nice little bitter kick. Really nice porter.

Nov 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark ruby brown with a creamy tan head that lasts ages. Aroma has notes of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Flavour Flavour is very similar, with the roasted malt upfront and the chocolate, licorice and coffee playing supporting roles. Surprisingly light body and high carbonation, with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. A very fine porter overall.

Nov 19, 2009 Pours black with a brown creamy head. The aroma combines sweet caramel and chocolate with a strong roasty element. The flavor is first dominated by a sweet coffee and chocolate which is just slightly bitter and sour with the finish.

Nov 17, 2009 550 ml bottle from Keller’s IGA. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a huge frothy tan head that laces the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, nuts, and toast. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, nuts, and metallic and medicinal notes. Medium bodied, rich, semi-sweet, and bitter. Has a chemical element in it that was off-putting to me. Otherwise, a decent porter.

Nov 16, 2009 Pours dark brown with a large, persistent off-white head.
Aroma shows a fair whack of roasted malt with some dark chocolate and nutty notes. Some diacetyl still manages to show. There’s also quite a bit of grainy-ness in there which I’m not a fan off.
Flavours are quite similar to the aromas, with mildly roasted malt and nutty notes. Hint of liquorice and burnt toast shine through. Thankfully there’s none of that grainy malt found in the aroma.
Carbonation is quite prickly, something I don’t like in porters and stouts.
