May 24, 2009 This is not what I expected from a winter ale, but the full body and balance for the brew was a nice change from others. This English is solid, but still drinkable, with a slight bitter, grassy twang a few moments after the sip. My only complaint is I wanted to be intised a little more because I didn’t get much aroma, though there was nothing out of place. Overall, one of the better Winter brews that won’t bloat you. Drink up.

May 17, 2009 Medium copper color with a tall fine head. Very fragrant aroma of rich caramel malt, hops (fuggles?) and spice. Very strong hop aroma, earthy, grassy, piney. Great hop flavor, good malt with lots of caramel. Sweet, but great balance. Spicy, but don’t know if they have been added. Thick and rich, strong malt flavor but the hops dominate. Hoppy finish, long lasting bitterness. Very nice.

May 12, 2009 2007-2008 Bottle,. subtle, not spectacular. Dark fruit, alcohol aroma...oaty, porridge, bread body and flavors with some light floral/fruity mix just peeping through.

May 8, 2009 Updated: Nov 4, 2009Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a dark amber with large white head which quickly disappears. Large carbonation bubbles cling to side of glass at first. Aroma of sweet malt and some yeast. Taste is very sweet right away, almost cloying. Sweet malt flavor with hints of dark fruit along with some toffee and maybe butterscotch. Fortunately, the sweetness dies down a bit. A little bit of tartness on the finish. It’s okay, but could be better balanced.

Apr 28, 2009 orange amber with a thin white head that laces. malty on the palate that balances out with plenty of hops. Moderate alcohol finish. Another fine example from this Brewery.

Apr 28, 2009 This is a decent brew. Aromas of fermented fruit and floral. Tastes of bittersweet maltiness. Tastes like it has more alcohol in it then it does. Dont think id get this one again.

Apr 21, 2009 Nice aroma of floral hops, grass and some sweet maltyness. Pours golden-amber with a nice two-finger frothy white head that settles down after a minute. Sweet malt comes through much stronger in the flavor with some yeast and a nice flowery-hoppy finish with a dry & bitter aftertaste. Creamy with medium carbonation. Very nice!

Apr 21, 2009 500 mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Orange-amber color with a frothy light tan head. Aroma is sweet and doughy with toffee and nuts. Flavor is bready and sugary with a mild metallic note and a lightly grassy/earthy hop finish. Medium body with substantial carbonation. Too sweet to be particularly drinkable.
