Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned only.
Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smith’s date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is aged for at least a year, matured in these well-used oak casks in the brewery’s underground cellars deriving fruit, raisin, treacle toffee, Christmas pudding and slight oaky flavours, before being further naturally conditioned in bottle.

550ml bottle from Country Club Liquors. Murky light brown with a big beige head. Nose is golden raisins, toffee, and a fair amount of oakiness. Flavor is quite fruity with some light bitterness, caramel, and contrasting sweetness. Finish light bitterness.

550ml bottle, with thanks to Gregis for sharing. Pours a mostly clear lighter brown, iced tea kind of thing, with a decent off-white head. Aroma is dried and ripe dark fruits, with some oak, toffee, and a little caramel. Flavor is more of the same, lighter and a little thinner, but coming off the Marshal Zhukovs, that’s a given. Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing Greg!

Slightly sour aroma. Oaky. Caramel as well. Fruit tastes. Very sticky beer all around. Interesting. Lots of carbonation. Much sweeter than I’d expect an English ale to be.

THIS IS A MUST TRY BEER IF YOU CAN FIND IT BUY IT. Everything about this beer is good from the bottle the pour the flovor. Pours caramel in color with a think med off white colored head. Aroma reminds you of caramel appels, and malts. Thick and creamy flavor sticks to your palate and makes you pumped for the next drink. I think you would like this beer even if not a big beer drinker.

Pours a mahogany into a trappist glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Oaked honey and caramel aromas. Crisp and bitter upfront turning to slight caramel before the astringent and oaky dry bitter finish.
