| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 22, 2005 Sweet candy sugar, pastry dough and a mild spiciness in the nose. Clear, pale, copper coloured beer is topped off by a low, off white head that recedes to ring. Sugary and vegetal flavours are both doughy and chalky with only mild bitterness and some pear or pineapple fruitiness. Medium light body with moderate, soft carbonation and a somewhat watery texture. Bottle (Grand Duc, Dec-05) sampled at Barry’s housewarming tasting. Paskal (146), La Prairie, Quebec, Canada

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2005 Bright amber-brown color, with a frothy white head, caramel malt, earthy whisky malt, with a grainy cereal and peaish note in the nose, follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a smoky whisky malt accent, caramelized malt, grainy note, leading towards a raw whiskyish malt and a faint bitterness finish. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Translucent amber like maple syrup, the initial bright white cake of dense head tapered off into the sunset, like the cowboy at the end of the cheesy movie.
Even though it doesn’t say Unibroue on the bottle, the aromas says that the U yeast imprint is in there, although subdued, about at the same level as St-Hubert, but without any of the spice.
Carbonation on the high side, the bubbles pushing the yeast and light astringency to the forefront, not helping the malt at all. It tasted quite light in fact, like a very watered down scotch, so much so that you get no alcohol flavor at all here. Aftertaste is a lingering pasty blandness that reminded me of any standard macro.
The website boasts that this Beer is supposed to resemble the drop shots cowboys used to drink in the old west. If that were to be the case here, then I’m glad the bottle says "Leave your guns at the bar", because the bartender would have gotten so much lead he’d be using his dick for a pencil for giving the cowboys whiskey diluted to homeopathic levels. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 5, 2005 341 ml bottle shared with MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere, beerbuzzmontreal and Yowie. Vague smoky-bitter character emanates slowly and stealthily from the light amber, white-capped body....you have to strain for the smoke but it’s there...in the body, bitterness and dry deadness, chalky and almost hard to swallow at the end...little moderating sweetness or malt like you’d expect in a smoked...glad the sample size was small for this one.
