Commercial Description:
Our signature beer and our best seller, this beer has started more meals and conversations than any other at the Brewing Company! This red ale is a well-balanced beer, not too sweet and not too hoppy with a beautiful copper color and an extremely smooth finish.

Draft: Bronze color, nose if lightly hopped, watery, sour. The flavor is similar, bland. Finishes tart. Hard to compare to the other hoppy SD beers on tap.

(Draft: San Diego Brewing Company in San Diego, CA) Wow, very toasty with lots of corn and cereal here. Actually, better yet, it’s like eating mildly salted tortilla chips from a mass-market brand. I get a somewhat soapy burp. Lightly sweet, but even lighter on the hops or bitterness. The nose is fairly toasty, but also has a somewhat rancid aroma. Medium body, fairly dry on the palate, standard carbonation level. Medium amber color shows slight haze. Light tan head is average across the board with size, retnetion and lace. Very odd amber, but at least it makes you take notice rather than just mindlessly sipping some generic amber. Still, the mild rancidness of the nose is just too much of a distraction.

On draught at the brewpub while during trip to California. Light clear brown colour. Very little aroma of malt and hops. A very fast disappearing head. Nice flavour of caramel and little bitterness, but a very good clean taste.

Draft at SDBC. Nice orangey amber color, with a decent head, but that’s about it. Not much aroma. Flavors seemed a little watered down. Some hops, some malts, but not much of either. Nothing exciting here.

On Tap. Caramel malts in the nose big time. Hints of brown sugar are also detected. Transparent copper/amber color with a small off-white head. Sweet, brown sugary, fake flavor. Caramel malts present. Slightly sour and astringent to finish. Thin.

Clear attractive amber color with a thin lingering head. Mild aroma, little hops but not much to speak of. Nice flavor, sweet malt backbone with plenty of floral hops and a toasty finish. Medium body and pleasant carbonation.

Amber in color witha small white head. Smells like caramel. Taste sweet and fruity, not much hop to this.

A light amber color. Hardly any aroma and very slight caramel flavor. Very tastless.
