Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 14, 2008 Bright amber with a decent head. Hints of caramel and light fruit on the nose. Low bitterness. Some toast, slightly spicy hop. Quick and easy.
alexanderj (1229), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 Sample at the brewpub; amber in color with a khaki colored head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, and buttery biscuits. Flavor was similar; a pretty decent hopping in the finish (for the style). All in all, it stood out a bit from others in the style. Dogbrick (2217), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 7, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear orange-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Faintly sweet malt and fruit aroma. Medium-bodied with bready malt and fruit flavors plus a hint of hops. The finish is mildly malty with notes of caramel and hops left over. Not bad, just not impressive on any front. bluemeow76 (685), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA Jun 29, 2008 On draft at San Diego Brewing Company. Fairly bland, mild malt flavor. Non-offensive, but very average. Oscbert (243), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 17, 2008 ~Pours a dark brownish amber color with small head.
~Very light malt scent, can’t get much else.
~Taste is also hard to get, maybe some nuttiness and some sweet maltiness.
~Feels dry. Has a quick finish.
~It’s ok. Not getting much from it. Pretty boring beer. doubleo (749), San Diego, California, USA Jun 5, 2008 On-tap. Pours amber with a thinnish off-white head, spider web lace. Smells caramelly malty sweet and slightly hoppy earthy. Tastes malty, more so than hoppy. The malts are slightly crisp and slightly caramelly, hops are earthy and pretty subdued, only slightly bitter on the finish. Once again, where’s the hops. Medium body, subdued carbonation.
