Jan 24, 2009 (11/5/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Diego. 7%. Brown-colored. Aroma of fruits, malt, caramel and some yeast. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, fruits, a bit of alcohol and some yeasty spiciness. Medium-bodied.

Dec 16, 2008 On tap at PP Strong Ale 08. Pours a deep rusty orange hue. Nose is sweet with citrus notes and malts. Taste has a bit of molasses with nice maltiness and bits of pepper. Slight warming on the finish and nice lingering sweetness. Another fine brew Mr. Dean~

Dec 14, 2008 On tap at Hamilstons. Dark brown with a fizzy white head. Sweet brown sugar, fruit, and a mildly bubble gum like aroma and taste.

Dec 7, 2008 On tap at Newport Pizza. Not much of a head but then again the beer is served way too cold. Flavor is burnt tangerines, toast and caramel. The beers a bit boozy, not very balanced and too citrusy.

Dec 7, 2008 Updated: Dec 8, 2008On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival -on the list as a Belgian Styel Quad- Poured a deeper and clear orange color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, citrus, and caramel. Tastes of dark fruits, toasted caramel, and fruity. 7 3 7 3 14I had this on tap at the brew pub a few days after at the brew pub. They only had this listed at 7% - hmmm, did they up it to get it to the Festival. Im actually dropping my ratings.

Nov 28, 2008 Tap at SDBC. Deep amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is faintly spicy with some clove and soft earthiness. There is a touch of DMS that is fairly distracting. Flavour is quite sweet with a light toastiness in the middle. As it warms a soft berryish character comes to the fore but there is also a lot of peppery ethanol that brings it out of balance. A bit of bubble gum as well but it never really comes together in any sort of cohesive way.

Oct 9, 2008 On-tap at SD Brewing. Pours slightly hazy brown with a thin white head, some lace. Smells subdued malty sweet. Tastes big and super sweet malty with some spice and some alcohol burn. Tastes sweet ripe fruity as well. Full body, ok carbonation.
