Pours with a deep red body topped by a thin to medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sweet and biscuity with a touch of caramel and lots of alcohol esters. Full bodied, smooth and warming. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2007 On tap at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest ’07. Clean amber color with some light beige head on it. Modest aroma of caramelized malts, cinnamon, and hops. I was looking for a bolder flavor out of this one, but was let down in the end. Some peppery spice to it, but sweet enough to balance it out. Good amount of bitterness to even things out a bit. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 10, 2007 On draught at the brewery. Pours a clear red-amber with a moderate white head. Nice crystal malt aroma, sweet with hints of caramel, plentiful hops, floral, citrus and faint spruce. Toasty malt backbone, lots of hop flavors, piney, citrus and grassy, a little molasses, a dry character as well and noticible alcohol. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Another new good beer from SD Brew Co and big kudos to Dean for his revitalization of this long time San Diego brewpub! riversideAK (2733), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Apparently this one is too strong to serve in growlers except for we got a couple of growlers of Ice-o-Lator a month or so ago. Whatver.
Beer pours a reddish amber kind of color. A nice aroma of sweet candy like malts and some nice floral hops. The flavor to me was some nice brown sugary fruit with a nice hop boquet. Bitter finish sweet beginning. Pretty full and heavy in body. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2007 Draft at brewery. Deep orange color with a decent head. Aromas lived up to the promise, lots of tangerine citrus in there. More citrus in the flavor. Not so much caramel, but still decent maltiness with a nice hop finish. Pretty good.
