| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2008 On tap at SDBC. Pours a deep dark amber/brown hue. The nose is that of roasted chestnuts, and it has really nice retention and prickly carbonation. The flavor is extremely malty, with hints of molasses and smooth hops balance. The end is crisp and flavorful. This is a very good brown ale! kflorence (93), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2008 On tap at San Diego Brewing Company. Dark brown in color with minimal tan head. Smells of malts, caramel and a hint of toastiness. Tastes mildly sweet, big notes of roasted malts and hazel nuts with undertones of caramel, brown sugar and hops. Very smooth and has a nice nutty aftertaste. Not overtly complex, but a good mix of earthy flavors make this very tasty. Not one of the best brown ales, but it’s not bad either. Bland nose, does not impart much but the flavors are nicely husky. Slick palate. This was my favorite of the SD Brewing offerings that night. badlizard (2345), Berkeley, California, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2008 tap at the brewpub - This one has a very mild malt aroma and an easy going caramel malt flavor. It’s medium bodied and smooth, just another straightforward, unremarkable brown ale. Not bad.
