| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Tap at SDBC. Deep brown beer with a thin white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Light toastiness and some faint nuttiness as well. Flavour is pretty sweet but there is a touch of cocoa that lends a kiss of roastiness that helps to dry the beer out. Nice nutty caramelly backing notes. It’s probably too sweet for me, but it does have some nice complexity behind it. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a medium thin and creamy tan head that recedes slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is sweet malt and molasses with a touch of nuts. Medium, smooth body with flavors of malt, nuts and mild chocolate. Touches of hops are present at times as well. The finish is sweet and malty and leaves behind a nutty aftertaste. Decent overall. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2008 On tap @ San Diego Brewing brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with lasting tan head. The aroma has a nice load of roasted malts and nuttiness along with a hint of fruity esters. The taste is rich maltiness along with highly roasted malts and a big hazel nut nuttiness. Lots of flavor here, yum. There is a faint malt astringency mixing in nicely to help cut all the roasty malts, sweeter malts and nuttiness. Very good Nut Brown.
