Commercial Description:
The golden-hued, strong Shanghai Pale Ale features lots of hops. The huge hop aroma from dry hopping beckons those who seek a hoppy beer. Hops dominate the full bodied taste and finish.

On tap @ brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head; good lacing. Citrusy, hoppy aroma, very bright. Smooth body, easy drinking with a hint of sweetness balancing the bitter hop finish. Average.

Sampled at SF International Beer Fest. OK but not my favorite by a long shot. Golden color with a small white head. Aroma of malt and citrusy west coast hops. Flavor is more of the same, very standard. Medium palate.

A golden IPA with a thin white head. A nice aroma of c-hops, very restrained. A decent IPA with light c-hops, medium bodied, overall, OK. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 17 2009.

I was worried after i had the pale ale, I’m a home brewer who has nothing hop forward in the cellar right now, so I went out on the town in search of a hop treat, I was surprised (after having the pale ale and others at the brewery) that this beer actually has some west coast (centennial? Armarillo?) bite to it, citrus and tropical fruit hop flavor, clear gold with no head, low carbonation (every brew at this brewery other than the stout is hardly carbonated), decent IPA though still a poor effort compared to any other local IPA... his brewery needs to hire some new brewers

Draught at the brewpub Golden with a white head. Aroma like elderberry-juice. Flowery and earthy flavour. Oily palate and pretty high bitterness.
