yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 24, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black and with a small tan and dense creamy head. Roasted and dark malty aroma. Roasted malt flavoured, sweet oatish and lighttouch of burned/smoke accents. Lasting sweet malty flavoured into the far finish. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 21, 2009 On tap. Pours black and opaque with a creamy light brown head. Roasted malt in the nose with a lightly fusty edge. Medium body, hard roasted malt, a little licorice and again a light fustiness. Finishes dry without any real bitterness. 070709 steview (901), Los Angeles, California, USA May 23, 2009 This was being served through the ol’ English hand pump, but I had a few, so I opted for the bomber: the aroma is sweet with lots of cocoa and roastiness; the body and flavor are both thin - light - somewhat sour and lactic aftertaste, but unlike of course of an old carton of milk; good brew overall despite the personal discrepancies. alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Mar 15, 2009 On tap at brewpub. Dark brown to black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma was actually a bit fruity. Light caramel, roasted malt and cocoa. Not very flavorful, but an ok beer overall. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Chocolate, coffee, light roast, sweet malt, caramel. The body is a dark brown to black and holds a limp tan head. Flavor is muted but features caramel, light roast, coffee, chocolate, and burnt dark bread toast. Thin bodied for the style. Dogbrick (2812), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 1, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This Stout pours nearly black with ruby around the edges. Foamy and thin beige head that burns away steadily, and a sheet of lacing. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee. Medium, dry body with flavors of coffee, roasted malt and some hops. The finish is dry and roasty with notes of coffee and bready malt, with a mild hops aftertaste left over. Above average overall, but not by a lot. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA May 4, 2008 On nitrogen tap at San Marcos Brewery & Grill--Deep, thick, opaque body with a creamy biege head. Fluffy, creamy mouthfeel, milk and cream flavor. Lots of lacing. Sweet, mild, mildly chocolate. Not too bad. Perhaps the best beer at this brewery aside from the Hefe. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jan 17, 2008 Old Goats Oatmeal Stout-on hand pump-pours a rich to disappearing tan head and black color.
