SD Brewers Guild Fest 09: Pours a deep mohagany with a tall, tan sheet of suds. Caramelly and toffee-like nose with same stuff coming out in the flavors, some possible diactyl, evident balancing hop bitterness...flavors concentrating on the caramel sweetness.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a fully gone head. Aroma is hoppy and light caramelish touch. Bitter, light fruity and caramelish flavoured. Nicely balanced. A more solid bitterness into the far finish.

On tap. Wouldn’t have guessed this was a brown ale, except for the color. Dark reddish brown. Aroma of caramel, bread, chocolate and fruit. Flavor was much of the same, but a bit buttery. Just ok.

Tap at the brewery. Great dark amber pour with a white head. Malty aroma. Taste was a bit nutty and malty, kind of the usual nut brown.
