Commercial Description:
Named after a world famous café called “Shanghai Red’s”, this ale is one of our most popular. It has a full malt palate balanced with a profound floral finish.

Part of sample tray at the brewery. Was more impressed with the place than the beer. Average Amber Ale

Tap, wish I had the full story here, but Ill add it, my girlfriends brother knows the full details on the namesake of this beer. Pours reddish black with a tan ring. Nose is zilch, dead dead dead. Taste is matly but dead, big bitterness and not much flavor.

On draft at brewery, consumed 01/21/08. Dark reddish-brown color with white head. Somewhat smooth, almost creamy texture. Caramel malt flavor and some hops after. Some grainy/nutty notes in the finish. Decent.

on tap-pours a dissipating light tan head that laces and mahogany color. Aroma is medium malt, citrus hops. Taste is medium malt-caramel/peat, citrus/metallic hops. OK/mild carbonation.

On tap poured a dark red color with a nice off white head. Aroma was heavy caramel with a touch of roast and fruit. Flavor was all malt and a tad one sided. Good amber, but would like to see a bit more hops.

My favorite beer I tried at the Brewhouse. Dark red color, little head. Malt taste with definite floral notes. Goes down extremely smooth. Similar to Red Trolley Ale, yet more balanced.
