The body is a very dark mahogany that shows virtually black at first glance. A foamy, khaki colored head settles to a thin layer, leaving minimal, random flares of lacing on the glass. The aroma showcases contrasting sweet and roasty characters, including chocolate, caramel, and cream battling roasted barley, toasted grains, and a touch of salty soy. The flavor follows suit, with a chocolate and caramel malt base meeting toasted oak, earthy hops, and a slightly annoying soy sauce component. A substantial body feels a bit prickly in the back of the mouth, perhaps the result of over-carbonation meeting alcoholic heat. This is a big beer, and its on the right track, but a few tweaks could take it from solid to stellar in a hurry.

Thanks to captain cougar for this brewski. Pour is dark brown...almost black. Small, frothy brown head. Very nice aroma. Sweet milk chocolate and roasty malts. Flavor is sweet and rich. Nice toffee in there also! Creamy and full. Good stuff.

Shared by dickinsonbeer. Very dark brown in color. Aroma: caramel, some dark fruit and light roasty notes. Taste is lightly roasty and chocolatey, with a smooth caramel body and a lightly roasty finish. Pretty good.

Bottle courtesy of mother in law. Sweet molases and some wet grainy barley oats. Black body with dark tan head that disipated rather quick. Sweet licorice, coffee and rasted malt flaovrs. Medium bodied brew with a dry coffee aftertaste on palate. Good brew.

Bottle, thanks to CaptainCougar. Pours opaque blackish brown with a lacy tan head. Sweet chocolate and vanilla nose. Creamy medium body. Sweet taste of roasty malt. coffee, chocolate, vanilla, molasses. Just lots and lots of good stuff, all at once. A bit of pine shows up in the finish. This was a dandy!

12-oz. Thanks, BitBucket! Pours inky black with a dense, moussy dark tan head. No lace, minimal film once the head settles. Huge roasty sweet molasses, vanilla, and chocolate nose, just delicious. Creamy body on the high side of medium with soft carb. Tons of roast, chocolate, molasses, vanilla, a wee note of plum, and then nice herbal to close the deal into the finish. Long sweet finish. Wonderful stuff.

Deep translucent chocolate with a cola like head fizzling at the top. Aroma sets the stage. Fudge bricks and bakers chocolate slaps with espresso beans lodged into the artifice. Burnt tar and broiled cocoa and prunes drum triumphantly with the abundant aromatic mocha character. Flavor produces quite a full mouthful with decadent milk chocolate and a touch of caramel talc commingling with cocoa powder. Chocolate milk with a chewy lactose sentiment. A sweet bitterness takes on traits of dynamic dark chocolate rather than a distracting burnt rawness found in much of the same style. Toffee bars melt to their simplest state of milk chocolate and gooey caramel ribbons. Controlled carbonation and a thick, chewy body, finishing with cocoa et caramel Tollhouse cookies good to the last drop.

This one poured as a dark ruby with a long lasting gray head. The malt was very roasty, and sweet with a slight chocolate hint and a little caramel. The hops had a little oily but adequately bittering flavor. A very nice brew.
