Nice roast on the malt with plenty of milk chocolate and a touch of fruit. Dark chocolate flavor. The finish brings in some hop and roasted malt bitterness. Creamy on a medium body. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 5, 2007 Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Deep brown with a fading but lasting head and some lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate and charred malts, molasses, fig, coffee and a hint of mineral. The taste pretty much is spot on to the nose, sweet and smoky malt with a fruity character in support. Some coffee and light acidity as well. The mouth feel is lively and expressive, a solid match to the flavor profile. Overall a darn nice Porter and worth a try. holdenn (1454), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2007 12oz bottle, no date, thanks to General_Gao (Colin) for this one! Clear deep deep ruby with a small tan head, fading to a ring before too long. This actually smells like a Baltic to me, though I’m no king of figuring out what brew is what. Sweet molasses, milk chocolate, old coffee, spicy alcohol, roasted malts, and hints of booze soaked raisins make up the aroma. Sweet aroma. Flavor ismuch the same with even some cherry notes showing up. Alcohol is still spicy and warming, but never detracting here. Roastiness is stronger, and makes itself apparent in the ashy char finish--bitterness peaks at a 3 to 4. Some vanilla showed up as it warmed. Full body with light to moderate carbonation. Hats off to Sand Creek for pulling this one off. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Lighlty roasted malt nose. Smood body with more roasted malt and coffee and chocolate undertones. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2007 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours dark and sits pitch black in my glass. Mid-sized, ultra creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is vanilla first, then chocolate and hints of cola, sassafras, minerally hops and coffee. The flavor provides sweet milk chocolate, bitter cocoa and spent coffee grounds. Full-bodied and velvety with restrained carbonation. Finishes chocolaty, medium burnt and moderately bitter. Thanks go out to ughsmash for providing the bottle of this world class brew!
