Mostly opaque and hazelnut black in color with a solid laundry foam lining of tan that’s impenetrable on top. Delicious bakers chocolate slabs settle on mocha grinds as it makes its way up the nose. A chocolate milk substance starts to excrete with a vanilla bean undertone. Flavor proceeds much more lightly with the vanilla and mocha beans pressing together with a lessened sweetness and more overpowering effervescence. Sweet cream lingers in the distance but there’s not much to speak about up front. Light black patent intonations with cocoa grinds over crisped wheat loaves nearly see us out. The trail ends fade with flavors akin to yesterday’s abandoned mocha frappuccino.

Appearance: Pours a black body with a intolerably large (though it soon settles), fizzy, khaki-colored head. Smell: Black malt aroma with full notes of fire-scorched coffee grinds and charred dark chcolate alongwith odd, stray hints of noxious garden weeds. Taste: Heavily roasted maltiness with plenty of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, and a subdued sweetness. Herbaceous hops. Hint of smoke. Light acidity. The roasty coffee character dominates the flavor and brings the lion’s share of the bitterness, too. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Fizzy carbonation. Drinkability: A bit coarse even for a coffee stout, but with some slight tweaks here and there and a toning down of the carbonation it could be quite nice.

Cheesehead YeAH 2007: Deep brown with a very good frothy tan head and good lace. The aroma has notes of smoke, caramel, coffee, herbal hops, apple and prune esters. The taste has a lacto sourness along with chalky charred malt with a little note of almonds and coffee. The mouth feel is thin and lively, dry finish. The beer is going downhill.

Black color; big head. Coffeish aroma, dry, a bit of ashes. Quite good body strength, good mix of caramel and roasted malt and coffee, a bit milky, round, well mixed together, better that I expected after the aroma. Good.

Bottle. A black beer with a big beige head. The aroma and taste is roasted and of chocolate and coffee and tar. Medium to full body with a dry roasted finish.

Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a huge rocky brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bitter chocolate and coffee, leading to a bitter dessert chocolaty finish. Nice.
