On tap at The Aldgate, Shibuya. Deep darkness with tan head. Smelled of roasted toffee, coffee, some smoke. Flavour had some molasses, brown sugar, and sweet cream. The finish was crisp, dry and had a great bitter edge. Loved this one.

Thin frothy head, black but not thick and oily. Beautiful and strong nose of brown sugar and molasses. Taste was a comb of molasses cookie, dark chocolate, vinallia, and coffee. Fast and clean finish. nice.

Made with Japanese brown sugar. On tap at Wachi, Kyoto. Almost black with a creamy beige head. Solidly roasted aroma, some chocolate. Good balance between chocolate sweetness and roasted coffee. A very good stout that despite its name manages to keep the sweetness in check.

Black with a medium, dark tan head. Bubbles darker than most. Fragrant, sweetish aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, toffee, smoke. Very rich malt flavor, sweet indeed but not coying and well balanced. Good burnt malt dryness in the background, with lots of chocolate, molasses, plus a tangy, fruit-like (dark fruit) flavor, a bit of sour, that works to balance. Slightly smoky. Not terribly heavy in body, it goes down easy and seems refreshing. Tangy, sweet finish that turns to dry roasted malts, and the dry burnt flavor lingers long. A very interesting, very nice stout.

Tasted @ GJBF Yokohama: Dark black, nice tan head and clean lacing. Nose of tequila and wood, sweet roast, lots of licorice and molasses. Good stout, very sweet.

@ GJBF 2007. Sweet aroma, brown sugar, cookie dough, malts, and molasses. Similar flavor, brown sugar is big, roasted malts, caramel, some cocoa, and vanilla. Finish is sugary molasses. A good/interesting stout.

sweet and sugary, chocolate, molasses; dark brown pour, opaque brown body, dark ruby highlight, nice and soapy tan head; vanilla, semi-sweet chocolate, a little brown sugar, some molasses, a little tangy; smooth, not bad...
