This dark brown ale poured with an attractive tan head and a chocolate aroma. The flavor is chocolate and coffee, but a bit thin. Just like their Dread Brown Ale, this brew has an unnaturally sour characteristic to it.

On tap at the brewery. Black with a wet frothy tan head. Aroma consists of semisweet chocolate, ashy roast, and earth. Flavor has a decent chocolate/coffee base but there’s a sourish charcoal note that may be due to a crappy boil or some organic off flavor. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Drinkability is okay.

Bomber. Pours black with a large dark brown head. Aroma is roasty but sweet, with coffee, caramel, and some nuttiness. Flavor is very roasty and ashy, with a moderately bitter finish turning into an oddly sour aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, ashy and acidic, though the flavor gets a bit more robust and interesting as it warms. Not bad; definitely better at room temperature.

Given in a 1 oz. shot glass for a $. Slight coffee aroma, very slight. Little ot no taste with little bitter conclusion. Should be served in 4-5 oz. in order to find a taste to judge from. Not impressed

Getting my notebook online. Bottle. Pours a thin black, slight head. Flavors of malt and chocolate. A little smoky. Not too bad but could be better.

I couldn’t get through an entire 22 oz. bottle of this beer. I just didn’t like the flavor, the mouthful...anything about it, really. I did not like the sour/bitter flavor at all.

Pours opaque black, no light gets through this one. Brown head dissipates. Aromas of roasted malt, some burnt aromas, a little dark chocolate, and a certain sourness. In the flavor there is a lot of acidity probably from all of the black malt. Very rich with burnt malt, light charcoal flavors, and a mild sourness. I can’t help but think this sourness may be due to some sort of sanitation problems.
