22. Pours black with a thick, rocky burnt orange and tan head. Towering, almost problematically large head. Not too much lace. Nice roast and chocolate nose. Medium body, light carb--no evidence of infection anywhere. Must just be overcarbonated. Medium chocolatey flavors on the mid-palate, bit of a sour milk finish. Tasty and drinkable but nothing too special.

Bottle; poured a very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor was dominated by roasted malt and coffee; some chalkiness and sweetness. Found the beer to be lacking complexity; if you like roasted malt and coffee you will like this one.

Sampled out of a 22 oz bottle from BevMo. Pours nicely into a pint glass with rich dark brown hue and roasted malts. Overall a very good beer and now I want to check out the brewery!

A quite roasty smoky aroma. Flavor is quite nice. A bit malty but sith some coffee notes. Not particularly rich, but enjoyable enough.

Beer is very dark brown, nearly opaque with a medium-sized, light brown, frothy, diminishing but mostly lasting head.
First impression is sweet and creamy, but deeper investigation reveals sharp corners that are hard to pass around. Malty with moderate/heavy notes of chocolate, burned/rubbery grain; Hoppy with a light note of resin/pine; Yeasty with a trace of wet basement, raw wood.
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with a long, moderately acidic, lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Rubbery retros and dirty aftertaste.
The body is medium, the texture is watery/velvety and the carbonation is lively.
Not enjoyable.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, rocky, fully lasting. Body is black (almost opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, husks, chocolate), with notes of chalk, charred wood. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Highly unpleasant sourness for a stout; so lactic that I wonder if it’s intentional. Malts are a bit husky/raw as well. Not a very good sample, but the appearance is awesome...head retention like this is a rare thing indeed.

A deep dark black netcar of the gods. This was a great beer to drink the malts where deep, dark and tasty. A great sence of coffee, toffee, and chocolate flavors. I loved it all. Great beer.

22 oz bottle, via Saarlander. Pours a clear dark brown colored body under a small dark brown foamy head that faded to a thick ring. Aroma is quite inviting. Roasted and chocolate malts with some coffee, burnt malt, a little licorice, and a hint of chalk. The flavor is a little less inviting. Heavily roasted and burnt malt with a large amount of astringency that really dominates things. Fairly watery finish with lots of espresso like bitterness and chalk. Mouthfeel is fairly thin and watery in texture with moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, the nose on this was pretty good, but in the end it had a serious astringency flaw that I couldn’t get past.
