Draught at the brewery. darker brown color with a small head. Light overall aroma with toasty, husky, nutty malt aroma. Lightly roasty and toasty malt with medium sweet flavor. Light spicy hop flavors and an astringent and bitter finish that has some light coffee and ends dry. Medium-light bodied with soft carbonation. This started out good, but this odd astringency in the finish definitely left me wanting something else by the end of the pint.

No real head at pour with a coffee and hint of bread in the aroma. Good light finish with more coffee in the aftertaste and some chocolate. Good stuff.

This dark brown ale poured with no head, just a few bubbles, and a sour aroma. The flavor is chocolate and coffee, but it’s sour and bready and burnt. Chocolate and coffee shouldn’t really be sour. It’s drinkable, but this is probably my last one.

22oz bottle. Stamped over the UPC is 040308 -just bought this a few days ago-. Poured a deeper brown color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, and somewhat earthy. There was something else there I just cant put my finger on. Tastes of roast, chocolate, caramel, and -root beer-. Maybe that rootbeer-ish is what I was also getting in the aromas.

Sample flight on tap at the brewery. Dark brown color with a tan head that leaves some appreciable lacing. Aroma is pretty weak, earthy maltiness (obviously organic) and some nuttiness. Flavor is average, bready malt, some caramel sweetness, nuts, and an out of place over-roasted finish. Not bad on the palate but I wouldn’t want any more of this.
