Commercial Description:
The Brown Ale style originated in the pubs of England, where beer drinkers desired a beer that was both flavorful and complex, but at the same time mild enough to be a session beer. The Santa Fe Brewing Company's interpretation of this style uses a combination of high mash temperature, hard water, and low-alpha acid hops to produce a product that is both true to the style and distinctly Santa Fe. Brewing jargon aside, Santa Fe Nut Brown Ale is an easy-drinking beer, mild, smooth, and always a favorite. Try a keg at your next party! Malts: 2-row pale, 30-37 l. Carastan, Chocolate Hops: Willamette

Kind of hoping I’d already rated this. It’s pretty boring. Bottled. Beer is clear, dark brown. Head is white, frothy, Mostly and quickly diminishing in the snifter. Aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, toasted nuts/nut butter; Light herbal hop. D’ats about it aside from perhaps an elusive metallic flicker. The flavor is lightly/moderately acidic/dry, trace bitter, lightly sweet with an average-length, trace acidic and bitter finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average.

Pours dark brown with amber tinted edges in front of a light. Nice two finger head that dissipates quickly with minimal lacing. The nose is promising. Quite nutty with a hint of caramel sweetness lurking about. A little malty presence peaking through. Toasted nut flavors dominate the almost nonexistant sweet malts and hops. Not much to it, really. Mouth is really quite thin and waterey. I like ’em quite a bit more to the thick side. All in all, this is very easy to drink and I could consume many in a session, but I wouldn’t.

A brown beer with little head. Aroma is sweet, but not much. The taste is sweet like molasses with a watery finish.

This is a relatively watery beer, but it is satisfactory when cold. Easy to drink and thirst quenching.

Mahogany pour with hints of chestnut, maple syrup, and dark leather and a razor thin latte head. Aroma is faint but has notes of caramel, roasted nuts, and cocoa. Flavor is roasted malt, slight hint of coffee, and nuts. Medium mouthfeel.

Bottle from ericandersnavy - thanks! Pours ruby/brown with no head. Smells like roasted caramel of the brown ale type. Medum body with very smooth carbonation. Flavor is roast malt with very mild hop. Finishes quite smooth with a touch of chocolate. Washing down a hot link very well.

Appearance: Pours up a clear, dark brown body with a stunted, ivory-colored head. Smell: Reasonably dark-esque malts with mild notes of chocolate, nuts, and roast. ’Mild’ being the operative word here. Slight, general earthy tone to the nose. Taste: Malts of the darker sort with light touches of roast, chocolate, and shed nut husks. Not overly sweet. As with the nose, it’s just got an overall earthiness to it. Clean, albeit low hop bitterness. Drying, earthy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Average at best. A relatively lighter, easy-drinking brown ale with it’s biggest fault being the fact it’s just so timid, so ho-hum. I’d shout an enthusiastic, inspiriting "BRING IT" to Santa Fe’s Nut Brown Ale, but it would probably either faint or crap its pants. Tsk tsk!
