agillespie81 (101), Denver, Colorado, USA Mar 11, 2008 Brown in color......good head retention. Sweet, somewhat malty aroma. Very sweet taste in the front with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Malty back with very little aftertaste.
ilovedarkbeer (717), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 31, 2008 On tap at Trinity Hall. Pours a medium dark brown color with red high lights. Nose is caramel and nuts which is actually pretty nice. Taste is sweet with notes of honey, caramel, and a little bitter roasted malt on the back end. This beer is unbalanced but is still enjoyable. Hard to figure out. maniac (1976), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle from Flying Saucer - Houston on 07/27/08. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy brown head that persists. Big nutty and toffee aroma. Big nutty flavor, toffee, caramel hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation. geherald (8), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA does not count Jul 29, 2008 Again, water tastes metallic, like the beer is fermented in rusty steel drums. (Maybe the fermentors really are rusty steel drums.) I am not a big fan of brown ales to begin with, and this one really makes me glad of that fact. tomciccateri (447), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jul 21, 2008 12-ounce brown bottle in Albuquerque. Reasonable carbonation and head. Well-carbonated early malty sweetness followed quickly an even dry/sweet dark malt flavor balance and even a brief hop bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice clean finish. Very easy-drinking. McGarnigle (167), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 26, 2008 Bottle. Reddish tinged, decent head. It smells malty and nutty. Body is a bit on the thin side. Light, few hops at all. Also, a tad soapy (inconsistency at the brewery?).
