12 oz bottle, pour dark red/brown forming a beige in color foamy head. Aroma of hops, malts and coffee. Flavour was fairly balance, a little more carbonated than I was expecting. Easy drinking with a somewhat bitter ending. Not bad, but not exactly exciting either.

22 oz can; dark color with a full-bodied flavor. Yet, it goes down light like a Pilsner. Impossible to find; I’ve heard stories that the brewery has it. Alas, it is almost worth teh cost of the flight to Japan.

dark clear ruby red, rich malt and floral hop aroma, rich malt flavor with a bitter finish, much more a bock than a stout

Bottle: My favorite beer to drink at my favorite Sushi restaurant. Smells thick and hearty as is the taste. Dark appetizing color especially with a plate of Chirashi. Goes down smooth and is hard to say "no" to the waitress when she asks if I want more. I had this on another occasion, but is pretty expensive to buy a case where I live: about $50 bucks for a small case. I’m pretty new to describing beer, so I can’t really say much about the flavor other than it is really good and thick. Not just a chugging beer it is a good one to let linger in your mouth.

Bought in the sale section of the Orchard Park Liquor Store in Kelowna. I was reminded of salted licorice. Page 406 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 261 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Can. Dark colour with a nice average lasting off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, hops and some coffee. The flavor is sweet with roasted malts, coffee, little chocolate ending with some bitter hoppiness. Good brew.

i went frickn nuts at every convienent store in tokyo, just trying all their average everyday beers. poured almost opaque brown with a nice tan head. dark notes of fig and chocolate. and easy smooth palate with a surprisingly good black beer character.
