Smells like it was poured through a dirty gym sock into the can. Tastes much better than I expected. Not a true schwarzbier but who cares. Worth trying, which is a lot more than I can say about other sapporo’s.

Stout my black ass! Ok, it looks like a stout, but that is about as far as it goes. I definately did not like the smell of this one and the taste is of a weak schwarzbier. Oh yeah, why the hell is it so damn bubbly?! I’ll take the Grand Reserve anyday. (The can still kicks ass though)

Schwarzbier, huh? Looks like a stout, but drinks like an Orberdorfer. So carbonated I burped like I was drinking American piss beer like Miller or something. Not a bad flavor. A bit thin. Decent. Hard to find.

This is good stuff! I’d much rather pull this out of the cooler than a Bud when I want a beer for the road.

Tastes like mud. Makes poor competition to Asahi’s vastly superior Black variety. Also carbonation seems very artificial, at your typical 7up/Sprite level.

This is a damn fine product. I was expecting a stout until I learned that the Japanese admire the ’schwarzbier’ style of German black beers. This is easily comparable with the best of those.

Fairly light in texture and taste. Slight roasted-burnt flavor meanders down your throat but is never quite assertive enough.
