Much better in the can. Original 3.1 Big 650 ml can - pleasantly surprised - does not excel in any one area - but all around very drinkable. Fluffy white head with good lacing that sticks around a while, dark yellow, slightly murky appearance - good bubble action. Fresh, slightly fruity aroma, like a muted APA. Slightly hoppy and fruity flavor with a pleasant mouthfeel. Has a bit of honey sweetness to it as well. Not as dry as most Japanese beers. Probably the best of the few Japanese beers I have had to date. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2004 Bottle pours dark straw with a minor fizzy white head. Carbonation is light, lacing seems good. Aroma is of malts and unsweetened pears. Taste is much the same. Sweet finish, crisp, definately a light, easy to drink lager. Slight hop bitterness in the aftertaste. I've always had a soft spot for Japanese lagers for some reason, being some of the first beers I got into.

Aroma is not too bad actually, nice malty flower smells. Flavor is nothing assertive and is somewhat pleasant with a very clean sweetness with a slight hop finish. Thin body. A decent lager. becksgenius (106), Illinois, USA
