Can. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of straw and caramel, and so is the flavor.

Bottle (334ml). Poured virtually black with a large, thick, frothy, tanned head which was average lasting. A strong, rich malty aroma with sticky toffee, burnt sugar, caramelized dates, currents, hints of milk chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Flavor was also rich, with toffee malts, burnt sugar, caramelized dried mixed fruits, chocolate, hints of cola with roast coffee and some licorice in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel and a decent finish. Much better than I expected.

Can, bought on Amsterdam airport for a rediculous amount of money. Deep dark brown color. Caramel, roast and dark chocolate in the aroma and flavor. Malt is prominant in the finish. Remarkably good beer, almost worth the money.

Can. Watery and roasty - bit thin. Not so great, but if you like the schwarzbier style, it’s passable. Instead, try to find the bottles of Coero Shikkoro (a sweeter, richer schwarzbier).
